Sindragosa down
by Shagaire on Feb 07, 2010
Pretty much learned the fight on our 10 mans and went on to kill her tonight on 25, currently have 5 attempts left for this reset.
We had quite a few problems with people disconnecting and having FPS issues so get a better country and PC's.
No queues no lag just kills.

Finally got to try Putricide this week as well as see the new wing. We did three 10 mans on Wednesday which were varied in success but it means that we all got to see the new wing before our 25 man run as well as gearing us better for that run.
Putricide was just getting in there and killing it as this was only our second full week of trying him and he died on the second pull. We spent a little time on Princes but once you have the control you have the fight beat.
I expected to wipe a bit on Blood-Queen Lana'thel but it went pretty well. With a bite rotation sorted we pulled, got her to 57%ish and wiped to the flying phase damage. Second pull the wrong person got the bite (we are still trying to work out that mechanic!), panic set in and we wiped. Third pull everything went well up to the 4th bite then people started to lose their bite targets and get MC'ed. We managed to get enough damage out though before the rogues cut our healers down

A pretty good raid having 11 attempts left!
I'd like to thank the alts/members that stepped into cover the Lana'thel fight we had some very weird problems this week with members. i.e. Get authenticators, and don't be called Dave.
To say I'm happy with the server we moved to would be an understatement and I think (hope!) the whole guild feels the same way.
First Zenedar raid
by Shagaire on Jan 19, 2010
Seems like we shot ourselves in the foot a bit with transfering and Putricide left to kill in ICC. We couldn't go kill him as we all had seperate raid ID's when we landed on Zenedar.
So what to do with the raid, lets rampage through all the alliance citys! Ironforge (for 30 mins) -> Stormwind -> Terdassil -> Darnassus -> The Exodar and then back to Ironforge for another 30 mins.
Hello alliance from Darkstorm!
(Picks to follow when i get some!)
Goodbye and hello

A small update on our progress first.
ICC opened and we couldn't raid the first day as we all got locked / crashed / timed out into different zones/instances, can't really blame the server for that I guess as it's probably common across all realms. The days to follow were ok, we cleared the first few bosses with relative ease and went about rescuing the the silly reindeer and unpacking our presents.
After Christmas was over and we got to a new wing the queues on al'akir went up to 2000 at peak times and the guild started to suffer. Darkstorm has been about for a few years now and this means that we have our fair share of old farts (and UK bums) that log on at 19.30CET as they have jobs and live in the correct time zones (i.e. GMT). As our raid times are 20.00-2300CET, raids were put back 1h to allow for the bad queues but this only seemed to work for the first few days, any slight delays in people coming home meant that we were starting even later.
There were a few posts on the forums about trying to get Blizzard to do something which had a few blue responses but as always "we are monitoring the situation" didn't quite cut it. The only thing they seemed to do over the last week was to free up another 1000 slots on the server which takes the queue down but adds another 300ms to everyone raiding.
The final two resets we couldn't really go all out on Putricide as the server problems and what came with it was getting people down.
So where does that leave us now..
I think the post made by Lylz our GM on the realm forums sums up what history we have had on Al'Akir for the last five years.
Quote:
I hoped I would never be making such a post, but there comes a point when the positives really do cease to outweigh the negatives for playing on a particular realm. It is a sad day indeed for me, but DarkStorm has made the hard decision to migrate away from Al'Akir, our home of now 5 years. I never thought we would be the ones to go, but I guess things don't always turn out as planned.
There is almost too much to say, so many memories. I'll never forget the vanilla times though; our raiding tussles and banter with SotG, our epic PvP battles with the old school East Dragon... Al'Akir was certainly the most exciting and fun realm by a long way all throughout those times in my opinion. I'll never forget opening the Gates of AQ and the 1000s of players in one area. That was a true sight to behold, even if the server did fall over about 5 seconds into the opening scripting.
Life has certainly not been dull on Al'Akir and I'd like to thank everyone who DarkStorm has interacted with on both factions for helping to make our experience of the last 5 years so much fun. I'd like to thank all of our members, past and present and all those other old schoolers on the Horde side such as Requiem, Veterans, Gifu, Kalevlased and Apex. I'm sure there are many others, but you get the idea! I'd also like to thank those few remaining Alliance characters that still persist to this day! Be it on Horde or Alliance, you know who you are! Big shout out to Zalgradis and Sarah though, keep going for AA Alliance guys.
I hate goodbyes and this is a pretty piss poor attempt to be honest, but I'm emotional! For those with any interest, DarkStorm are transferring to Zenedar and pretty irritated at missing the FCM at the end of last year to. It will be strange being the underdog in terms of faction representation, but hopefully also some fun to. Our raiding core have transferred already or in the process of doing so and the rest of our community, or at least parts of, will follow in the next couple of weeks. I will be removing all DS members with the exception of my level 1 black Tauren Shaman, who will hold the guild tag for prosperity.
There's likely much more I could, should or want to say, but I cannot. All I will say is goodbye and goodluck to all of you remaining!
DS will miss you all...
LylzThis decision was not taken lightly, DarkStorm is not only a raiding guild but has a massive casual member base, being old members and friends we have picked up along the way. This is something we want to keep going on our new realm Zenedar and hope that people feel the same way. We have lost a few people during the transfer but note that new friends can be made and alliances forged.
Hope to see you there.
We are also recruiting a holy/Disc priest!
Merry Christmas from DarkStorm!
by Katz on Dec 23, 2009
We just like to wish all our friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We felt that it was fitting we add Cairne in our shot this year as this may be his last Christmas! *spoils omg?*
PS. I apologise if the shot I took isn't as detailed as I was expecting it to be. It took long enough to get this one - before it all turned to hell....
